Hello there my very dear peep and readers ,,,,, how are ya all doing??? I was supposed to post this recap two weeks ago ,,,,, but hey ,,,, better now than never ,,,, right???? Anyhow ,,,,, here it goes ,,,,,,,,
How was your looooooonnnngggg Memorial Weekend???? Mine and Apes was Ghetto Fabulous!!!! Yes ,,, you read that right ,,,, we had our 'Ghetto Away' weekend!!! You might ask yourself ,,,, why ghetto??? ,,,,, for one simple reason ,,,,,, it was everything but a 'Get Away' at all.
It all started like two or three weeks ago ,,,, when I received an email from my dear sista Molly asking what was the delio for Apes B'day ,,, as you might remember, April's B'day was May 25th, and since landed on a Wednesday, and Molly and I live are not even near to the Apes ,,,, we decided we would celebrate with her on the long weekend!
Ah, I still can envision my original plan ,,,,, a nice sunny-heatless long weekend at Lake Tahoe, Napa and/or Sonoma Valley ,,, doing some wine testing, or the Spa to pamper ourselves ,,,,, even just going away to 'any' place outside our own homes ,,,,,, but what really happened is NOTHING even close to what I had planned!!!!
So, Molly was freaking out cuz she had been chosen to become a Nina again ,,,, not only that ,,,, she had to go to Arizona to baptize this creature of God ,,,,, and yes ,,, it was over the loooooooooooooong Memorial Day weekend! ,,,, we tried our best to kill two birds with one stone ,,,, but it did not happen ,,, she had to go to Arizona and missed on out Ghetto experience ,,,,, and Apes decided ,,,, to come down to my very own place ,,, and spend the looooooooooongggggggg weekend with me!!
It all started on Friday ,,, when the Apes drove down to Visalia, TX ,,,, my co-workers and I ,,,, were supposed to meet at this 'popular' bbq place that has a mechanical bull to hang out and have a couple of drinks ,,,,, so I told the Apes to meet me there ,,,, after 347892634239749 phone calls ,,,, she made it to the joint ,,,,, at the end ,,, only one coworker showed up ,,,, nevertheless ,,,, we had good food, good drinks and a hell good time seeing those brave cow-boys/girls ,,,,, riding the bull ,,,,, after a little while ,,, da Apes and da me hit it back to my place ,,,,, da Apes and da me were running on very little hrs. of sleep from the day before; consequently, we crashed as soon as we hit the mat!!!
Day two - Da waterless, cake and sushi festival!!
We kinda slept in on Saturday ,,,, but here comes the first sign that your 'getaway' will turn into a 'ghetto away' ,,,,, the day before (Friday), we had some work done to our kitchen ,,,,, and the sink was licking ,,,, so my dearest father SHOT off the water for the whole house!!! Yes, you read that right ,,,, there was no freaken water at all in my house!!! We couldn't cook, take a bath, damn even brush our teeth decently ,,,, so I told the Apes ,,,, 'Apes lets go to have breakfast some where else ,,, unless you wanna die of starvation' ,,,, for what she replied ,,,, 'no problemo' ,,,, we combed our hair, brushed our teeth with very little water ,,,, Apes was able to get from the facet and I got a glass of drinking water and did the same (I know ,,,, TMI) ,,,,, and we went our happily way to find a place to eat ,,,,, we decided to go to Denny's when I recalled a place near my home that serves breakfast as well,,,, 'The Country Waffle' was our salvation!!!! We ate ,,,,, chatted ,,,, paid our bill ,,,, and went to Starbucks ,,,,, got some drinks for us and my dear sisters that were feed peanut butter/jelly sandwiches since my mother dear was not able to cook ,,,, isn't she the bestests!!!!! When we got home ,,,, guess what ,,, worse news ,,,, my daddy being the 'un-handyman' (is that a word ,,, most likely not ,,, but you get the idea ,,, right??) did MORE damage to the sink ,,,, not only the pipes were licking ,,,, but the drainage pipe/tube was BROKEN!!!! For the love of God ,,, what was my daddy thinking when he decided to fix the sink!!!! Luckily enough,,,, my neighbor was kind to come over and help my daddy to fix the mess he did ,,,, plus the lick underneneighborsink.
While seeing my neighber and dad fixing the sink ,,,,, I brought out the cake we got for the Apes ,,,, we cannot go wrong with a delitious 'Tres Leches Cake' ,,,,right Apes????? Phew ,,,,, evening came along ,,, and I suggested to da Apes that 'Yoshinos' would be the place to have dinner that night ,,,, she 'delighted' agreed ,,,, we went to Yoshinos ,,,, had the bestest Sushi in the world EVER ,,, and since it was still early in the evening ,,,,,we settled to go and watch a movie ,,,,, we went to check out the times for the movies showing ,,, and found the right movie to enjoy that evening ,,,,,,,,, 'Madagascar' ,,,, if you haven't seen this movie ,,,, well ,,, what are waiting for ,,,, it's hilarious!!!!! After being the only freaks ROFLOFAO ,,,,, we went home ,,,, we saw SNL ,,,, with the best of Alec Baldwin (?) ,,,, and had to hit the mat early ,,, since our day was going to start pretty early the following day ,,,,
Day Three - Da Beach, Strawberries and something else!
We woke up around 8:00 a.m. on SUNDAY ,,,, man ,,,, I insist that is a 'SIN" to wake up that early on Sunday ,,,, but we did ,,,, we got ourselves ready ,,,, stopped at the local Starbucks downtown ,,,, and hit the road to the coast ,,,,, traffic was not bad at all ,,,, our first stop was Morro Bay ,,,,,, the day was beautiful and perfect for these two inland mofos ,,,,, to have a walk around the shore ,,,, observe how crazy kids got into the water ,,,, and how others were just catching some sun ,,,,,, oh but prior to the walk ,,,, we stopped in one of the local's place to have an amazing bowl of clam chowder and some fish and chips ,,,, after all ,,, what would it be to go to the coast and not eat clam chowder and fish & chips ,,, right???? Tee heee heee ,,, after our tummies were happy and full ,,,,, then we started walking ,,,,,,, thereafter ,,,, our next stop was Pismo Beach ,,,, however, there was a Strawberry Festival going on a couple of mile ahead of Pismo ,,,, for which we agreed and went to check it out!!! Nothing extraordinary ,,,,, lots of little booths with different merchandise to sale ,,, of course food and the infamous strawberries ,,, that could be found on almost every other booth ,,,,,, I got me a 'Strawberry Short Cake' ,,,, it was good ,,, a little to sweet for me ,,,, nonetheless, I eat it all!!! We walked around ,,, the sun was a killer ,,, but there was wind ,,, which helped a lot ,,,,, we found some 'Kettle Corn and Snow Shaves' ,,, at that point ,,, we were tired as hell ,,, and decided we wanted to go home ,,,,,, on our way back ,,, traffic was a little bit heavier ,,, and if it had not been for a fool that was going .39478908 m/h ,,, we could had gotten home earlier ,,,,, anyhow ,,, we made it home ,,, and stopped at Apes (and Molls) second favorite place after Yoshinos ,,,,, Sonic Burgers ,,,,,, we delighted our tummies again with some shakes, burgers and an awesome sunset ,,,, ahhhhh ,,,, we got home ,,, and pretty much hit the mat.
Da Last Day - Da River, ice cream and many, many, many more sweets
On Apes last date in my hometown ,,,, I wanted to take her to a little urban place ,,, technically in the back yard of Visalia ,,,, Three Rivers ,,,,, I have to be honest on this one ,,,, I heated this place!!! See ,,,, 7 or 8 year ago ,,,,, my family and I went up to Three Rivers to spend the day ,,,, ya know ,,,, summer time ,,,, hot ,,,, water ,,,, it was a perfect day to swim and have a good time ,,,, well not for me nor my two sisters ,,,,, my younger sister does not know how to swim ,,,,, so we (me and my sister Julissa) thought it would be easy to take Elsa to the other side or the river ,,,,,, BIG MISTAKE!!!! Not realizing our inability to swim with extra weight on our backs ,,,,, we almost drawn ,,,,, yes the THREE of us almost died due to this stupidity ,,,, and since then ,,,, I could not even stand the name of the town ,,,,, but this past Monday my perspective on Three Rives totally changed!!!! The lake was packeKaweah lots and lots of people bbqing and camping at KaKaweahake ,,,,, we took it a little bit farther than Kahwea Lake ,,,, we got to a point where you could see the current of the river ,,,, it was just breath taking BEAUTIFUL ,,,,, we stopped at a restaurant and had some dessert and wine while observing some ducks and birds having fun with the flow ,,,,,, the weather was extremely nice ,,,,,, the second reason for me in taking Apes to Three Rivers was cuz I was told that there is a place where they have ice cream and candy home made ,,,, Apes said she had no more space for ice cream ,,,, but me ,,, man ,,,, there is always space for ice cream!!!! I got me some Three Rivers Wild Black Cherry and Pistachio ,,,,,, yummy, yummy for my tummy!!!! It was delicious!!!! I also made a stop at the candy shop ,, and got some goodies for my mommy ,,,,,, after that ,,, we happily went back to Visalia ,,,, and thatÂ?s how our Â?Ghetto AwayÂ? looooooooooonnnnnnnngggggggggg weekend concluded ,,,,, Apes, girl ,,,, I promise ya ,,, that this summer is gonna be even better!!! Some other peeps joining us ,,, plus some rain ,,,,, yeah ,,, this is gonna be Â?da summer of all timesÂ?!!!!!!
Well folks ,,,, after all ,,, there are some other things to do here at the Central Valley ,,,,, I honestly love living in this area ,,,, not only cuz I can light up myself in summer time ,,, or freeze my ass during winter season ,,, but for all the natural resources this amazing state has ,,,,, come to SequoiaÂ?s National Park, Kings Canyon Park, even Yosemite National Park ,,,, itÂ?s just breath taking ,,,,, IÂ?m not sure about you guys ,,,, but IÂ?m not certainly looking forward to the summer ,,,, just for one reason ,,,, ITÂ?S FREAKEN HOT!!!
